The lion density of the Okavango Delta is a result of the strong buffalo population. Hyenas compete for prey, while leopards are frequently seen observing from the trees. Wild dogs are a particularly special sighting of the Delta, thriving with plenty of room to roam.
Accommodation at Mogogelo is in 10 classic Meru-style canvas tents, raised on wooden decks and with en-suite bathrooms and private decks on each tent. All rooms stretch out alongside the communal area, and each has a view of the waterhole and the Okavango Delta wildlife that frequents the area in front of camp. Each canvas tented bedroom at the Camp has either a king-size or two twin beds with characteristic wooden frames and headboards, complete with crisp, white linen and mosquito canopies
During a game drive, visitors will typically ride in open-sided 4x4 vehicles, led by experienced guides who are knowledgeable about the area and its wildlife. Early morning and late afternoon game drives are the most popular, as these times offer the best chances of spotting wildlife when they are most active.
Mokoro safaris are a popular activity in the Okavango Delta, offering a unique and peaceful way to explore the waterways of the Delta and observe aquatic wildlife. Mokoros are traditional dugout canoes made from the trunks of large trees, and are propelled through the water by a poler who stands at the back of the boat using a long pole to push and steer.
