Camp Savuti is situated on the banks of the Savuti Channel. Guests can watch wildlife from the comfort of the camp or even from their own private decks. In Botswana, the Savuti is renowned for its incredible wildlife. Experience the thrill of getting close to top predators and watching them in their natural habitat from an open-air 4x4 vehicle guided by knowledgeable rangers at Camp Savuti.
Each of Camp Savuti's 5 Meru-style tents is equipped with modern comforts and offers a private veranda overlooking the dry river bed. A unique and refreshing feature of the ensuite bathrooms is the open-air shower that offers a combination of indoor and outdoor bathing facilities. There are also dining and bar areas at Camp Savuti, as well as a small deck next to the channel, which is a perfect place to relax. Boma and bar facilities are available for convivial drinks. A game drive in a 4x4 safari vehicle allows guests to experience the Savuti region's abundance of game species as well as predators up close.
The area around Savuti offers high wildlife concentrations, especially during the winter months. Apart from the normal plains game, the area has good sightings of Roan, Sable and Giraffe. All the predators occur in the area - Lion, Leopard, Cheetah and Wild Dog. Two different prides of Lion have been identified along the channel around the camp. The Chobe/Linyanti area is renowned for its dense Elephant population and offers some of the best Elephant viewing anywhere in Africa in the winter months. As the waterhole in front of the camp is the only supply of water for a large area in the dry winter months, one of the highlights for Camp Savuti is the fantastic wildlife viewing directly from the camp.
At Camp Savuti, guests will be accommodated in private Meru-style tents. A total of five individual tents are located on elevated wooden platforms that provide some height from which to view the channel. All units feature a private wooden veranda with chairs for two; carpeted floors inside; twin or king-size beds with headboards and pure cotton linen; shelving space; a safe; and an ensuite bathroom with an outdoor, open-air shower. There is a dividing canvas curtain separating the bathroom from the main bedroom that can be fastened back or pulled closed in order to provide privacy. A flush toilet and an indoor bath are available.
There are usually 2 game drives per day that take place in open-air modified game viewers. Mornings start off with an early wake-up call and optional coffee. The drive follows a meandering route across riverine forests and floodplains in search of predator activity. Game drives normally last about 3 hours. Upon return, a sumptuous breakfast is served at camp. Most of the day is spent birdwatching from camp or simply lounging around in the breathtaking surrounds. Later afternoon game drives cross over into the evening, where exquisite sunsets can be enjoyed. During the evening game drive, safari-goers can enjoy an obligatory sundowner stop at a carefully selected location. After game drive, a dinner under the stars is enjoyed, after which guests have the freedom to sit around the campfire or bar, or retire to their tented hideaway.
